Mark Kimber is the Publisher of The California Advocate, the Central Valley's only Black newspaper and a publication with a legacy spanning nearly six decades. As the son of founders Les and Pauline Kimber, Mark carries forward a longstanding commitment to informing, educating, and uplifting the community through trusted journalism and advocacy.

Serenity Kelly
Director of Digital Media Content
Serenity Kelly is the Director of Digital Media Content for The California Advocate, where she leads the newspaper's visual storytelling and digital media initiatives. Specializing in video production, photography, editing, and social media content, she works to engage audiences through compelling multimedia stories that inform, educate, and highlight the diverse voices of California's Central Valley.

Kelly earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism with a Multimedia emphasis from California State University, Fresno in 2020 and a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2026. She also brings two years of broadcast journalism experience as a photojournalist, developing a strong foundation in visual storytelling, news gathering, and community-focused reporting.
