New Charter School to Open in Fresno

On Wednesday morning, locals gathered for the official grand opening of Golden Charter Academy in its ribbon cutting ceremony. The event was a celebration of years of hard work, planning, and construction.

Robert Golden, the President and CEO of Golden Charter Academy, says that this school is the result of his vision to make a difference in the education system

"At the end of the day, I am not an educator, but I am a visionary, I'm a builder," Golden said. "I had a vision to be able to try to help change the paradigm of education."

Visitors had the opportunity to explore the facility and view the finished project, which will accommodate several K-8 students starting in August 2026. Among those present were prominent local figures such as Mayor Jerry Dyer, Fresno County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michelle Cantwell-Copher, and former Clovis Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Eimear O'Brien.

Golden mentions that this project has been underway since 2019, and the ribbon-cutting symbolizes his dedication to serving the community.

"To be able to stand here before my city and open up this school to serve kids, to serve families, to uplift a neighborhood thats been marginalized and forgotten about for decades and centuries, that's what this was all about."

The facility includes several classrooms with outdoor patio areas, a cafeteria, a science room, and additional features.

Many shared words of encouragement and gratitude, celebrating the projects completion. Robert Golden says that while this is a memorable milestone in his journey to better education, there is still much work to do.

"The goal was accomplished today, but the vision still hasn't been met. So we're going to keep working until we have the best school that the city of Fresno and the state of California has to offer."
